THE AIR MAX TRIAX USA OLYMPIC MAKES A COMEBACK
The Olympic Games - in their modern edition - celebrate their 100th anniversary in 1996 in Atlanta. The American city wins the organization of the planetary event at the expense of the mythical Athens. If Nike showed its power four years earlier in Barcelona, this time the Olympiad takes place at home and the American brand has grown considerably in a few years. It is now a leader in several disciplines including basketball and track&field.
Times have also changed. The USA has further extended its cultural influence worldwide. After hosting the World Cup two years earlier, it is now another global event that will make the United States shine.
Like 1992, Nike is the official sponsor of American athletics. In 1996, the most famous American athletes in this discipline are Michael Johnson (double gold medalist and a world record in 200m) as well as Carl Lewis who participated in his last Olympic Games by winning a 9th gold medal. Both are - of course - under contract with Nike. The American team is still by far number 1 by winning 13 gold medals and confirms its monopoly on world athletics. Anything stamped with the American flag and the acronym Track & Field is highly sought after and quickly becomes a collector’s item.
A Faithful Reissue Of The 1996 Sneakers
Nike has the great idea of releasing an exclusive edition of their Air Max Triax in the colors of the American Track & Field team. It is easy to immediately recognize this kind of model thanks to the combination of navy blue, red and white. The touches of gold are a reminder of the successes obtained in the various competitions. The pair is signed on the heel and on the insoles. It is the first time that it has been reissued and the 2020 edition is very close to the original version. This Nike Air Max Triax USA will be able in mens version on June 27th on FENOM (womens edition will release on July 1st).
